Chapter 1: Understanding Your Core Purpose

The essence of achieving success in business lies in creating a strong alignment with your true self. When your business reflects your identity and values, you have already set yourself on the path to success.

It all begins with understanding your purpose. Simon Sinek's influential book, "Start With Why," has inspired countless individuals. At 21, while contemplating my future in a prison cell, I realized my purpose was to advocate for the underserved and the overlooked individuals in society. Though this mission is altruistic in nature, the business environment requires financial sustainability to flourish.

Once I grasped my "why," the next step was to identify the "how." Reflecting on the world around me made the answer apparent. Entrepreneurs, startups, and technology are pivotal in shaping our society. The economy is undergoing a digital transformation that is altering human interactions.

Upon my release at 22, I was determined to develop the skills, resources, and knowledge necessary to make a difference. I explored various businesses, jobs, and sectors to broaden my understanding of available opportunities. Along the way, I encountered passionate leaders committed to creating a fairer, more equitable world. The sheer determination of many inspired me and highlighted the diverse roles available in this mission—whether as entrepreneurs, activists, investors, employees, or advocates—each role plays a vital part in driving systemic change.

After an unexpected job loss, a new opportunity presented itself that would profoundly impact my life. I was invited to take ownership of Breakthrough Social Enterprise alongside close friends. This organization focused on aiding individuals in prison and those re-entering society by facilitating their entry into the technology sector.

As we took the reins, we became increasingly aware of the digital divide affecting various demographics. Many individuals, regardless of their socioeconomic background, criminal history, or ethnicity, lack the skills needed to thrive in a digital world. This gap, particularly regarding awareness of artificial intelligence, represents a significant market opportunity.

While many organizations cater to those at either end of the digital divide—offering free resources to the digitally literate or providing technology access to those without—we aim to address the middle ground. A considerable number of individuals possess a superficial understanding of technology but are unaware of its vast potential, particularly with tools like AI that can transform their futures.

Breakthrough is committed to becoming a leader in AI education and awareness. Our mission is to connect individuals from all walks of life with groundbreaking technology that can reshape their lives. We plan to leverage various digital learning formats, including uploaded content, virtual workshops, and in-person sessions.

Several key factors influence success in today's world: Can you learn effectively? How quickly can you adapt? How well do you collaborate to achieve challenging objectives? How adaptable are you in a rapidly evolving environment?

We will address these questions with every participant at Breakthrough. Our objective is clear: to foster the next generation of talent to pursue high-value, impactful opportunities.

Currently, awareness of artificial intelligence is alarmingly low. While certain groups utilize this technology daily, they represent only a small fraction of the global population. I firmly believe that the future will hinge on individuals' ability to harness advanced technology to elevate their lives.

The pace of advancements in AI, computing, and robotics has exceeded even the most optimistic predictions. Humanity is on the verge of a monumental transformation. While it's encouraging to see governments and corporations recognize this change, it's disheartening to observe many individuals turning away from it.

My most important mission is to awaken the broader population to the importance of engaging with this economic revolution. Everyone must take an active role to fully benefit from the future that lies ahead.
