# Politics: If You're Not Contributing, Step Aside for Progress

Chapter 1: The Importance of Action Over Hypothesis

When facing a crisis, contemplating theoretical solutions is unproductive. The time for such discussions is when circumstances are stable, not in the heat of a challenge.

Lobby scene highlighting urgent decision-making

A former cinematographer, Don Smith, recounted a story from a luxurious hotel lobby. While seeking assistance from the concierge, he was approached by a familiar voice asking, “Are you, Don?” Upon turning around, he found Arnold Schwarzenegger—actor, bodybuilder, and former governor—standing there, confidently smoking a cigar indoors.

Despite Don's accomplishments in cinematography, he was caught off guard by the encounter with the iconic figure. “Yes, I am,” he replied, flattered. Arnold, however, was more interested in whether Don was finished with the concierge, brusquely instructing him to “move out of the way.” The former governor's focus was singular; he didn't care who Don was.

At present, America finds itself embroiled in a metaphorical civil war—a contest for the nation's direction and the integrity of its democratic values. This is not merely partisan rhetoric; both sides recognize the stakes. The divide is so substantial that compromise seems unattainable, leading to a winner-takes-all scenario.

When life is relatively calm, it’s easy to contemplate improvements. However, the right moment to strategize isn't when the storm is raging and your vessel is taking on water. Such reflections should occur on solid ground, well-prepared and composed. In urgent situations, like a house ablaze, it’s not the time to ponder renovations.

This frustration is magnified when outsiders offer unsolicited critiques about how America should have approached its founding in 1787. It’s equally aggravating when citizens suggest changing directions during a crisis.

I don't possess the skills or tools to make repairs myself. Every attempt I've made has led to more complications, ultimately necessitating the hiring of a professional. I’ve learned to bypass the frustration of trial and error and go straight to the expert.

Those lacking hands-on skills often receive unwelcome advice from others. Regardless of the situation—be it hiring a contractor or selecting products—everyone seems to have their own version of what you should have done differently.

Ladies, while you may feel that "mansplaining" is a male-centric issue, rest assured this behavior isn’t exclusive to any gender. Everyone tends to share their unsolicited opinions, often believing they know more than you do about a subject, regardless of your expertise.

One challenge within the Democratic Party is its diverse coalition. Each faction has its own priorities, which can lead to internal conflicts. What’s paramount for one group may barely register for another. Nonetheless, the bonds that unite us are often stronger than those that divide us, though Freud noted that the closer the relationships, the more likely we are to squabble.

As we approach an unusual presidential election, it's likely we will see the same candidates from the previous election face off again. While not unprecedented, this situation is rare, especially considering their ages. If Biden is reelected, he will be 86 when he leaves office, and Trump would be 82 if he resumes the presidency.

If I were in a position of authority, I would have discouraged Joe Biden from running again. He initially presented himself as a transitional candidate, yet now it seems he cannot relinquish power. Eight years in the White House is not a bridge; it’s a significant legacy.

Nevertheless, if Biden is determined to continue, he becomes the candidate we must support, regardless of whether he aligns with my vision for leadership. While he may not be the ideal choice, he might be our best hope against a divisive adversary.

To my fellow Americans who cherish democracy, individual freedom, and a hopeful future, my message is clear: if you're not willing to actively contribute to the current struggle, step aside. Your background chatter isn't needed. Allow the proactive individuals to take charge and address the pressing challenges we face.

Arnold Schwarzenegger isn’t coming to save us this time.
