Navigating the Starving Artist Journey: A Creative Reflection

Chapter 1: A Self-Interview with a Creative Twist
In this unique self-interview format, I'm channeling the persona of a fictional interviewer, aptly named "Hot Blonde." Imagine her asking me questions about my writing journey, as I provide all the responses. The aim here is to create a cinematic experience—like a screenplay in motion—rather than a typical Q&A. While many writers rush to get to the point, I prefer to set the scene and share my thoughts in detail, perhaps even leading to a future film project.
Hot Blonde: Thank you for having me conduct your interview!
Me: My pleasure!
Hot Blonde: I've reviewed your collection of essays and poems, and I've noticed a shift in your recent work. What’s behind that change?
Me: Lately, I’ve aimed to connect more deeply with online publishing, asserting ownership over my creations. I’ve deleted several past pieces, and I wanted to confront my most chaotic writing instincts to see how they might influence me.
Hot Blonde: Do you think your newer pieces might come back to affect you later?
Me: Yes, that’s a real possibility. It often happens when you put yourself out there, especially if your work is perceived as significant. I might revert to deleting some of my recent work if needed, and I'm still navigating that decision.
Hot Blonde: What specifically are you considering removing? Your online presence seems rather minimal.
Me: Primarily, I've been contemplating my recent writings. I want to better understand myself as a writer, which is a departure from my usual approach.
Hot Blonde: How would you describe your usual writing approach?
Me: I tend to prefer polishing my work more. My recent attempts have aimed to address issues or comfort the distressed, but I realize they need more refinement. I typically strive to emulate articles that provide valuable information in an accessible manner.
Hot Blonde: What’s your ultimate goal with this process of reassessment?
Me: Primarily, it’s about feeling safer in my expression. Speaking candidly feels riskier, but I want to create a persona online that offers some protection from the world’s chaos. I believed in my past messages, but clarity has often eluded me, and I’ve come off as sarcastic—something not everyone appreciates. Ultimately, I want to ensure I’m perceived accurately and remain employable.
Hot Blonde: How would you like to be perceived?
Me: I want to present myself positively to everyone I encounter.
Hot Blonde: Beyond removing some content, do you have plans to enhance your future works?
Me: Absolutely! I plan to wipe the slate clean of my recent writings and begin a weekly blog for a year. My goal is to compile these entries into a book.
Hot Blonde: That wraps up my interview. Thank you!
Me: Thank you!
As I conclude this self-reflection, I am setting out to start a blog. Given the often overwhelming nature of the world, I believe it’s essential to provide clarity and understanding rather than perpetuating false narratives. I see the need for hope amidst the chaos—an unwavering belief that hopelessness is an illusion.
Maintain that hope, regardless of the odds stacked against you. Even in challenging times, remember that outcomes are never set in stone. Embrace love and goodness in all that you do.
Moving forward, my blog will focus on health, aging, and the daily challenges of life. Reflecting on my recent writing efforts, I realized I needed direction. Thus, committing to a weekly blog with the aim of publishing an e-book seems like a fitting start.
I feel fortunate to have been born in 1985, witnessing a world that has largely improved, aside from notable events like 9/11 and the pandemic. Life's ups and downs resemble a fluctuating stock market, so I am determined to pursue this weekly blog endeavor to help myself navigate these complexities.
Thank you for your time, and I wish you all the best in your journeys,
Scott
