On July 21, a user on the Korean Meeco forum shared insights about the 2025 iPhone specifications, indicating that the iPhone 17 Pro series might introduce 12GB of RAM alongside a 48-megapixel triple-camera system. Just recently, renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TF International Securities, who has a track record of monitoring Apple’s supply chain, revealed via X that only the iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature the 12GB RAM configuration among the new iPhones.

According to Kuo's analysis, this 12GB DRAM will be a unique attribute of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, while other models—including the ultra-slim iPhone, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and SE4—will retain 8GB of RAM. Thus, enhanced local AI capabilities are expected to be a major selling point for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Should Kuo's predictions hold true, it implies that consumers desiring a device with 12GB of RAM will need to invest in the top-tier Pro Max model.

Moreover, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is anticipated to feature improved cooling technology, combining a vapor chamber (VC) with graphite sheets, while the other models in the 2025 lineup will continue with graphite sheets for cooling purposes.

Kuo has pointed out that the Pro Max model currently represents nearly 40% of new device shipments and plays a vital role in Apple's revenue and profit generation within its hardware division. This strategy of differentiating the Pro Max with superior specifications—beyond just a larger display compared to the Pro—is likely to persist.
